 范文:

 My favorite way of communication

As we all know, communication has been playing an important part in people"s life. As can be seen in the pictures, there are three ways of communication, of which I like communicating by cellphone most. My reasons are as follows: Firstly, by cellphone,

people can easily call each other at any time and any place, while it is too slow a way to communicate by writing letters. Secondly, by cellphone, people can hear the voice of each other’s, which is the biggest advantage over letters. Finally, using cellphones can provide people with varieties of information by sending and receiving cellphones texts.

2 听力材料 Text 1 M: How often do you write to your mother? W: Twice a week. Text 2

M: Anita, leave the TV alone. W: But, Dad, I want to see Disneyland. M: Anita, you know that it’s time you practice playing the piano. Text 3

W: So, what do you usually do in your free time? M: At the moment I’m spending most of my free time in learning French. I also enjoy playing the piano.

And how about you? W: Oh, not much. But I go to the sports club and work out once a week. Text 4 M: My brother isn’t like me. I like playing chess while he likes playing cards. W: I think chess is fairly similar to cards, though I don’t play cards very often. M: I wouldn’t say they’re totally different. But chess is certainly more difficult and requires more concentration. W: I agree with you there. That’s why there’re fewer people who play chess. Text 5 M: Your husband has lost a lot of weight. W: I know. His recent illness has taken it out of him. M: Oh, really? Text 6

M: Stella, how’s the new student in your class doing? W: The kid from Brazil? He’s having a rough time communicating since he doesn’t’ speak much English. However, the other kids seem to include him pretty well. M: As teachers, we should be used to new kids who don’t speak much English, since we have had so many new immigrant families move into our school district.

W: Don’t I know it! This year I have had a Cambodian, an Ethiopian, a Chinese and the kid from Brazil in my class. I spend a lot of time with them after class, so that they can catch up. M: It must have been hard for you, since you have to give them special attention in order to help them. W: It has been. Nevertheless, it’s really rewarding to see them progress and make friends.

Text 7 M: So, Mary, do you have anything specially planned for this Saturday? W: Uh, I’m very busy, why do you ask? M: Oh, I was wondering if you would like to get together and do something like seeing a

3 movie or taking a walk down by the lake. W: I’d love to, but I’m really going to be busy all day on Saturday. M: What do you have to do on that day ? W: First, my mum asked me to help clean the morning, and then I have a dentist appointment at 12:00. I can’t miss that because I’ve canceled twice before. M: Well, what about after that? W: Well, I’m going to be running around all day. Julie asked me to her house at 1:30 to help her with her science project. But I’m afraid I’ll be half an hour late. M: Oh, you’re always so busy. When will you be free, Mary? W: Hardly, my mum always tries to come up with something for me to do. W: Dr, Carl Lee is the director of the National Sleep Institute. Got a few questions for you about this Sleep IQ quiz. M: OK. W: First of all, is it true that babies dream less than adults do? M: Well, no, they dream the same amount. They just can’t tell us about their dreams. You know, everyone dreams, but some people can’t remember any of their dreams. W: And do women sleep more than men? M: Oh, no, that’s not true. But as we get older, we need less sleep. W: Is it true that it’s dangerous to wake up a sleepwalker? M: No, it’s the same as waking someone up who’s having a dream. In fact, sleepwalkers could get hurt if you don’t wake them up. I mean, especially if they try to go downstairs or something.

W: And is it true that someone who is a sound sleeper doesn’t move during the night? M: Oh, no. We’ve videotaped people while they sleep. And you can see on the videotape that they move around all the time. And it’s true for light sleepers and heavy sleepers. M: Hi, Angela. I hear you’re selling your car. W: Yeah, I am. It’s beginning to cost me more and more money. A little repair here and a little repair there. M: So, are you going to put an ad in the paper? W: I’m not sure. I heard that you can sell a car on the Internet.

M: That’s right. My brother sold his car that way. It took about three weeks.

W: How much was the ad? M: IT costs $ 40 for two weeks.

W: That’s a pretty good deal, but I think I’ll put an ad in the paper and put a sign inside the car. M: I guess that’ll be the easiest and fastest way to sell it. Will it be cheaper? W: Well, it costs $ 15 to advertise for a week. M: That’s not bad. Good luck selling your car. Text 10 M: Nancy, what classes are you taking this term? W: I’m not sure yet. I want to take two English courses, and maybe Spanish. And I’ll

4 probably have to take maths. M: Aren’t you going to take biology? That’s a required class you know. W: I already took it. No more science classes for me. Science just isn’t something I like. What are you taking? M: Only biology and English. W: How come you’re only taking two classes? M: I have to work this year. I don’t have enough money to study full-time. W: What kind of job are you going to get? M: That’s the problem. I’ve tried all the gas stations and the restaurants, but nothing. I’m going to try a few taxi companies tomorrow. I like to drive.

W: Really? By the way, what do you think of Spain? I went to Spain once and I really liked it. But the place

I liked most was Switzerland. I spend two weeks visiting my uncle there. M: I hope that I can get to Europe someday. I’ve never been out of the United States.
