Postcards always spoil my holidays.

Last summer, I went to Italy.

I visited museums and sat in public gardens.

A friendly waiter taught me a few words of Italian.

Then he lent me a book, I read a few lines, but I did not understand a word.

Every day, I thought about postcards.

My holidays passed quickly, but I did not send cards to my friends.

On the last day, I made a big decision.

I got up early and bought thirty-seven cards.

I went to a wedding last week.

It was at a beautiful house outside London.

I rang the door bell, and a polite yong man answered it.

'Please come through to the garden,' he said.

'The party is outside. We couldn't bear to be in the house on a lovely day like today.'

It was a prefect summer day.

The garden was full of flowers.

Tall trees shaded us from the strong sun.

I went and shook hands with the bride's parents.

Just then, there was an unbelievable noise.

The bride's mother was speaking to me, but I couldn't hear a thing.

Half a mile away, an aeroplane rose into the sky.

The bride's mother spoke again.

Can I introduce you to my son-in-law? Julia, this is...'

Another plane flew over, and again, I couldn't hear a word.

In the pause before the next plane, she said, 'Have a drink, my dear.

We'll have the speeches soon.'

Then she turned to the next guest.

The lovely garden was just a mile away from the busiest airport in Europe!

我上周参加了一个婚礼。
