◎归纳总结 英语中,形容词短语作定语需要位于            ,可以转换成定语从句。  ☞即学活用 (1)The leaders present at the meeting totaled 8.(改写成定语从句)   (2)她有一颗价值四千法郎的钻石。

  3.【教材原句】Especially amazing is the Incas dry stone method of building.  尤其令人称奇的是印加人的干石建筑法。

【句型】这是一个     结构,因语篇衔接和语义需要而使用,表语especially amazing 前置是为了    。  ◎观察思考 Higher up was an old castle where a king once lived. =An old castle where a king once lived was higher up. 再往高处去就是一座旧城堡,一位国王曾在此居住。

◎归纳总结 在一个主系表结构中,若主语是     ,则可以将     提前构成一个全部倒装结构。  ☞即学活用 (1)挂在墙上的是一幅很好看的画。

  (2)拴在树上的是一只可怜的猴子。

  4.【教材原句】Inca builders cut stones to exact sizes so that nothing was needed to hold walls together other than the perfect fit of the stones.  印加的建筑工人将石头切割成精确的尺寸,仅仅凭着石头间的完美契合,即可稳固墙体。

    ◎观察思考 There is nobody here other than the teacher. 这里除老师外再无别人了。

The form cannot be signed by anyone other than yourself. 该表除了你本人,别人不能代签。

◎归纳总结 other than“除了(不包括在内)”,相当于     。besides也是“除了”的意思,但往往是     。试比较:  Last night all the other students went to the cinema besides Tom. 昨天晚上除了汤姆其他学生也去看电影了。(汤姆也去看电影了,包括在内) All are present except/other than Helen. 除海伦外, 大家都到了。(海伦未到,不包括在内) ☞即学活用 (1)He usually goes to work on his bike

   Helen.  5.【教材原句】 Enjoy the beautiful countryside as you spend a day driving along the new highway connecting Cusco to Lake Titicaca.  沿着连接库斯科和的的喀喀湖的新建公路,驱车行驶一日,全程饱览乡村美景。

【句型】connecting Cusco to Lake Titicaca是     短语作后置定语。  ◎观察思考 The workers working in the company are well-paid. =The workers who work in the company are well-paid. 这家公司的员工收入很高。

Make less noise.Theres a sleeping child. 不要出太大的声音,有个孩子在睡觉。

◎归纳总结 动词-ing形式短语作定语,指的是该分词与所修饰的名词间构成逻辑上的     关系,如这里的highway和connecting 是主动关系,故用动词-ing形式。

单个的动词-ing形式作定语要      (如a sleeping child),动词-ing形式短语作定语要     ,可以改写成定语从句。  ☞即学活用 (1)Those     (wish) to join this club should sign here.  (2)The young man
