A Language learning apps are very popular now and offer opportunities to learn vocabulary and practice grammar. But there has been a discussion about just how effective such apps can be. Among the most popular apps are Duolingo and Busuu.Previous research found positive results on the use of them. But these apps mainly concentrated on study with learners who had signed up for language courses and they only worked as after-school support,so the results were not always reliable.A recent study of 4,095 Busuu users has been carried out aimed to find out if users can actually learn a language with an app. Busuu provides learning materials for 12 different languages. It offers a special model where some content is available for free while some content is not.We find that its users are an even mix of men and women.More than half consider themselves to be at the beginner level as there is a decrease in users as their language levels go up.Most people use the app because of personal interest,or because they want to study or live abroad.Female users tend to use it less often but for longer periods of time than male users. Getting any feedback on Busuu depends on whether your answer is correct or not. While it is helpful, this is not the sort of feedback language teachers prefer,as it does not explain why the answer is right or wrong. In spite of this, feedback in the app is very highly rated. More than 92% of respondents state that the app has met their expectations and 86% rate the app very highly. In fact, more than 80% of the users surveyed strongly agree that using the app has helped them improve their knowledge of the language they are learning. Besides, language learning apps also create an environment where mistakes are only known to the users, and this can address the performance anxiety that many learners suffer

from when asked to speak a foreign language. So language teachers should encourage their students to use them to do the grammar work, leaving precious class time for more language communication. 1.The results of the former research weren’t always dependable because

 .

A.it was only carried out before class B.it didn’t consider users in class C.it just focused on positive results D.it used out-of-date methods 2.What can we learn about the app Busuu from the text? D.It’s more popular with female learners. 3.Which of the following can probably replace the underlined word “address”? A.Deal with.

  B.Write down. C.Turn to.

D.Speak of. 4.What is the main idea of the text? A.Students won’t suffer anxiety in learning languages by using Busuu. B.Language learning apps are effective and satisfactory to language learners. A recent survey shows that smart phone users have developed "“checking habit"——frequently checks of e-mails and other Apps. The checks normally lasted less than 30 seconds and were often done every 10minutes. On average, the study subjects check their phones 34 times a day. And the strangest part is that they don"t even realize they are doing it."I hadn"t told my hand to reach out for the phone. "Each time you get an e-mail, it"s a little bit exciting, because it means a positive feedback that you"re an important person," Frank told CNN. Once the brain becomes used to this positive feedback, reaching out for the phone becomes an automatic action you don"t even think about consciously, said Frank. A lot of people become successful because they pay attention to the lessons that life teaches them.

 16

However, by learning to deal with the challenges, one can come out of the experience, wiser, stronger and more able to face whatever else lies ahead. Life lessons can occur in any area. Although we learn many things each day,we don"t always learn something that we feel will affect our behavior for the rest of our lives.

 17

It is usually something we are greatly changed by. For example, if we respond in a certain way to something and then face unpleasant consequences,we"ll rethink how we handled the situation. This can serve as a life lesson so that when we"re faced with similar circumstances, we can consciously change our behavior.

 18

Such lessons in relationships are as varied and unique as each relationship, yet there are common themes.

 19

Some of us learn a major life lesson when a loved one dies, and we wish we had spent more time with that person. This lesson can result in us spending more time with our remaining loved ones.

  20

Since the lesson is learned through the consequences of our

actions or reactions, in this way we can gain insight into how we think, act and react in certain situations. Perhaps one of the biggest lessons we can finally learn is that while we can"t control everything,we can control our response to things. A.Life lessons are unique to each person. B.Some of these lessons are learned the hard way. C.This separates a life lesson from everything else we learn. D.Spending more time with loved ones is one of the examples. E.Life lessons can serve to help us understand ourselves better. F.One way to improve your life is to learn something new every day. G.To put it simply, a life lesson teaches us not to make the same mistake twice. 第 三 节完形填空(共 共 20 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 20 分) 阅读下面的短文,从短文后各题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

 Yours, Li Hua 第 六 节 读后续写(共 共 1 小题;每小题 35 分,满分 35 分) In 1945, a 12-year-old boy saw a beautiful brooch(胸针) in a shop window that set his heart racing. But the price-five dollars-was too high for Reuben Earle. Five dollars would buy almost a week"s food for his family.

Reuben couldn"t ask his father for the money. Everything his father made through fishing went to his mother, Dora. Slim and beautiful, she was the center of the home, the glue that held it together. The housework was never-ending, and she struggled to support their five children but she was happy as her family and their well-being were all she cared about. Nevertheless, he opened the shop"s weathered (风化的)door and went inside, Standing proud and straight in his flour-sack(面粉袋改做的) shirt and washed-out trousers, he told the shopkeeper what he wanted, adding, "But I don"t have the money right now. Can you please hold it for some time? "I"ll try," the shopkeeper smiled. "People around here don"t usually have that kind of money to spend on things. It should keep for a while." Reuben respectfully touched his worn cap and walked out. He would raise the money and not tell anybody, for he thought Mum would get surprised when she saw that brooch. On hearing the sound of hammering from a side street, Reuben suddenly had an idea that he could raise money by selling the used nail bags(装钉子的麻袋). People built their own buildings in Bay Roberts, using nails bought in bags from a local factory. Sometimes the used nail bags were thrown away at the construction site, and

Reuben knew he could sell them back to the factory for five cents a piece. That day he sold two nail bags and hid the money in a rusty soda tin. 注意:
