根据第一本书简介“In April 1945, Italy, a writer disappeared at a conference and was found dead at another place. Thirty years later, a young man interviewed survivors from the conference, trying to uncover the truth about what happened and its consequences. This novel, by a well-known Argentine writer, explores art, crime and politics.( 1945 年 4 月,意大利一名作家在一次会议上失踪,被发现死在另一个地方。三十年后,一个年轻人采访了会议上的幸存者,试图揭开发生了什么的真相及其后果。这本由阿根廷著名作家写的小说探讨了艺术、犯罪和政治)”可知,这本书讲述了一桩陈年命案的调查故事,是侦探小说。故选 C。

 2 题详解】

推理判断题。根据When Breath Becomes Air, by Paul Kalanithi部分中“This autobiography finds hope and beauty in the face of death as Kalanithi attempts to answer the question “What makes a life worth living?”.(这本自传在面对死亡时发现了希望和美丽,卡拉尼蒂试图回答这个问题:“什么让生命值得活下去?”)”

根据最后一段中“Bess Kalb saved every voicemail from her grandmother Bobby Bell who died at ninety. In this book, Bobby is speaking to Bess once more, in a voice as loving as it ever was in life and brings us several generations of brave women.( Bess Kalb 保存了她九十岁去世的祖母 Bobby Bell 的每一条语音留言。在这本书中,Bobby再次对 Bess说话,用一种一如既往充满爱的声音,向我们呈现了几代勇敢女性的形象)”可知,最后一本小说的主角是 Bobby Bell。故选 A。

B If you were to throw, say, a banana peel out of your car while driving along the motorway, that would be a completely harmless action, due to the fact that it’s part of a fruit — right? Actually, no. A banana peel can take up to two years to be naturally processed, and with a third of motorists admitting to littering while driving, that’s a whole lot of discarded banana peels. An orange peel and a cigarette butt has a similar biodegrading (生物降解) term to that of a banana peel, but tin cans last up to 100 years; and plastic bottles last forever, as do glass bottles. Despite the fact that longer-lasting materials will serve to damage the environment and its animals for longer, we can’t merely measure the severity of a certain type of rubbish by its lifetime. For example, despite having a fairly short length of biodegrading time, more than 120 tons of cigarette-related litter is discarded in the UK every day. It’s not a cheap habit either: to keep our streets clean annually costs UK taxpayers £500 million, and when you include our green spaces, that goes up to £1 billion. So, it’s not surprising that if caught fly-tipping you could face a £20,000 fine or even jail time and, if you disposed of something dangerous, the court could give you five years to serve. Regardless of how severe these punishments might seem, however, among the reported cases only 2,000 were found guilty out of 825,000, so we still have some way to go in making sure people obey the rules. 4. What does the underlined word “discarded” in para1 mean? A. Harmless. B. Processed. C. Thrown. D. Long-lasting. 5. Which of the following has the longest biodegrading term? A. Glass bottles. B. Tin cans. C. Cigarette butts. D. Banana peels. 6. What can be inferred from the passage? A. The severity of rubbish can be measured by its lifetime. B. Quite a few people were found guilty of illegally littering. C. Every year UK taxpayers spend £500 million keeping streets free of dirt. D. Cigarette-related litter and peels can be ignored for their fairly short lifetime. 7. What is the purpose of the passage? A. To inform readers of different biodegrading terms. B. To call for people not to litter illegally.

 C. To encourage people to use fewer plastic bags. D. To stress the importance of good behavior. C

 5. A

 6. C

根据第一段中的“If you were to throw, say, a banana peel out of your car while driving along the motorway, that would be a completely harmless action, due to the fact that it"s part of a fruit—right?(如果你在高速公路上开车时把香蕉皮从车里扔出去,这是完全无害的行为,因为它是水果的一部分,对吗?)”句中的 throw可推知,“discarded banana peels”意为“被扔的香蕉皮”,即划线词意为“被扔的”,与 thrown 同义。故选 C。

 【5 题详解】

细节理解题。根据第一段中的“An orange peel and a cigarette butt has a similar biodegrading (生物降解) term to that of a banana, but tin cans last up to 100 years; and plastic bottles last forever, as do glass bottles.(橘子皮和烟蒂的生物降解术语与香蕉相似(2 年),但锡罐的寿命可以长达 100年;塑料瓶和玻璃瓶一样可以永远...
